Hi All,

i have a problem with sorting my outlook contacts using File As.

example:
First Name = Jan
Last Name = de Groot

File As is by default Last, First = de Groot, Jan.
So far no problems.

I have edited the File As field to "Groot, Jan de" and saved and closed this
contact. But it still displays (and sorts) it as "de Groot, Jan"...:-(
When i open this contact and view the File As filed it is shown correct
(Groot, Jan de) even when I look in the "All Fileds" tab.

The strange thing is that it doesn't do this when I add a new contact, only
with contacts already in my list.

Anyone have a solution for this?

TIA,

Mike

Solution for what? I can't tell what you're asking. Are you saying you do
not want it to sort as "de Groot, Jan?" Seems that's the way it should sort.

Hi Russ,
Yes I don't want to sort as "de Groot, Jan". I want to sort as "Groot, Jan
de".
I have manualy changed the File As field to "Groot, Jan de" and it shows the
File As field this way but still shows the addresscard ( and sorts) as "de
Groot, Jan".

Hope this clears thing a little.

Mike

Sort in what view?
I don't think you can force Outlook to sort incorrectly. Have you tried
parsing the name elements differently?

in the Address Cards view.

The strange thing is that some entries can be changed and will sort
correctly and others don't. Could it be that some entries are important from
an excell file?

What do you mean with parsing the name elements?

Click on Full Name... to parse these name elements manually to see if you
can fool Outlook into sorting against convention.
