I lost all of my contact data and have been re-entering
all of my data - the issue is that the file as information
does not appear. THe information is in the contact file,
but all of the views using "file as" are blank for file
as.....Does anyone know how to fix this?

Never seen it.
Can you post the steps that produced this problem?
Have you tried to repair your PST file using the Inbox Repair Tool?

I lost the .pst file as a result of a virus. I have
reloaded Outlook 2000 from the disks and am entering the
data from scratch - no importing, just good old fashioned
data entry by hand. When I enter the info for a new
contact, it automatically is showing up in the File as
Last name, First name just fine in the actual data
record. It is in the views that I am having trouble - I
ask it to sort by File As and that field is blank. For
example, if I use the view, current view, address card,
the gray bar for each record is blank - even though there
is data in that field in the record if you double click on
it. Help!

Describe how you created your current PST file.
Describe what you mean by "I reloaded Outlook 2000"
Have you tried what I suggested?

The .pst file was deleted, so there was no file to
recover. In addition, I do not see how to perform the
recovery function that you are describing, nor did it show
up when I checked in help. I am assuming that since the
file was deleted, any recovery function within contacts
won't work. To reload Outlook, I got my original Office
CD out that came with my computer and asked it to that
came disk out and asked it to "repair office".

But you had to have created a new PST file somehow. How?
The Inbox Repair Tool is "scanpst.exe" Search for it, run it on your current
PST file with Outlook closed.
