File and settings transfer problem

I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP. I first ran the file and settings
transfer program prior to installation. I am now trying to use that program
to reload the data, but I am getting the error message "the location that you
specified does not contain stored information." I am pointing the wizard at
a folder called \settings\usmt2.unc, which contains lots of dat files, each
roughly 2 GB. I'm guessing there must be some type of file that ties all of
these together for the wizard that is either missing or corrupted. Can
anyone direct me to some type of recovery mechanism?

How 'up-to-date' was the old installation?
How 'up-to-date' is the new installation?

Did you use the installed F.A.S.T. wizard on the old to do the export or run
it from the installation CD?
