A friend of mine had his computer connected to the internet, with no firewall and the "File and printersharing for Microsoft Networks" components were running. Now he is afraid of who might has been browsing his harddrives so my question is:

Is there any logfiles that tells who has been logging in to his computer and when??

Is he running XP? XP won't allow blank passwords to be used for remote
access, so this isn't as much of a problem as it used to be.

You can also check out the security logs in event viewer.

Well, I just wrote "\\my.friends.public.ip" in the address field in explorer and I could easily browse his drives.. (from my home) I think he had an active guest account..

By the way, does event-viewer show IP, date and so on also!?
