Should File and Print sharing be turned off on a network?
What problems can it cause

On your local lan you can leave it on and it should be running on servers.
It should never be bound to the external nic.

The problem that I am running into is that when you try to connect to the
remote machine with the computer management util it can't find it. Or if you
are using any WSH scripts to execute remote commands they will fail to
connect to the machine....I wouldn't turn it off on the local network too
many remote management functions break. But never bind it to a NIC that is
on the internet....bad bad bad. So now I am trying to figure out a way to
find the setting in the registry on my machine(where its enabled) export the
setting to a reg file, then run the reg file on the other machines that
don't have it enabled....fun.
