I am trying to set permissions on an NTFS volume so that
users are not able to delete any files or folders but
they are still able to right to these folders. I can
remove the modify permission and enable the write
permission but when doing so , when the user attempts to
save a file to the the volume it appears to do nothing
then after about 15 seconds there is a dialog box that
appears stating that the file already exists would you
like to overwrite it. When you look at the path where you
saved the file the file name is there but the File is
empty, meaning the data withing the file is not saved. I
have also worked with the special permissions to try and
deny deleting but only to the same results.
Is there a way to enable a user to be able to read, write
and execute but at the same time deny them the ability to
delete folders. Do to the incidental mistakes by some
users in deleting files and folders on the file server,
this as become a real need to do, so that I do not have
to save their butts with restoring the data all the time.
Any help would be appreatiated.
