Fighting all malware at once

Dr Frank

I was asked not long ago, if there is a single solution to keep our
system from damage due to a virus infection, spyware, adware, worms,
troyan horses, hijackers, and all sort of malware.
Actually there are two versions.
For desktops its called Pc Guard.

I use both, and they really work!
And they offer a 30 day FREE trial on Laptop Guard also..!!

Good stuff and cheapear than any other solution.

Wanna bet that Dr. Frank is one of the affiliates/resellers?

Did you happen to notice the claim that it scans your entire hard drive
in eight to fifteen seconds? <lol>

At the cited website the image of the PCI card looks just the same as a
similar scheme promoted by posts to this or another antivirus newsgroup a
while back. That site also solicited distributors. I can't seem to find
the thread at the moment. The consensus of the thread was that it was only
useful for a computer locked away in a kiosk with no input but the keyboard;
and only then for restoring the system, program, and data files to the
original condition at reboot.

I don't know if we are talking about the same PCI card.
My computer is connected to the internet, and its part of a network
environment.
Actually I bought mine online at
www.ferms.org

I was referred to the website for extra literature on the subject, and
found that they had a version for laptops also. It was 30 day free
trial so I downloaded.
Works great for me, so I'm just making a comment.
I though that newsgroups are useful to tell news to groups, and though
this is great news.
If you think this is not good for you, its ok I guess.
I'm sharing my experience with the product.
If somebody else had another experiences and can contribute with the
group, willl be great for all.

Well I have to ask you to define "free"
Are you talking about money?
What about your time? How much is your time worth?
How much time you spend making updates, scan disks? How often?

The answer still is cheaper than the other solutions, yes.

And I really would like to become a reseller of this product.
I'm talking from the user point of view.
I use it every day. have no complaints whatsoever.

For my home computer? A little time spent is not extravagant.
How much time you spend making updates, scan disks? How often?

Not much. Maybe a half-hour per month at the most. Then consider you set
a scan to run, and go do something else. Watch a baseball game, read a
book, send some email while the scan is running, or even go to work
(though I'm retired).
The answer still is cheaper than the other solutions, yes.

Yep, same arguments as put forth in the earlier threads.

* You are spamming ( your opening statement "I was asked not long ago, if
there is a single solution to keep our system from damage due to a virus
infection, spyware, adware, worms, troyan horses, hijackers, and all sort of
malware" is a marketing ploy.)

* The product is still crap (offers no protection at all except for deleting
ANY changes to your system upon reboot; not something useful outside an
isolated kiosk system.)

* The 'distributors solicitation' is pyramid scheme; the number of tiered
distributors will rapidly outpace the number of buyers.

One of the purposes of newsgroups such as this is to expose useless and
malicious products.

Yes, his IP says he is posting from Cable & Wireless Panama. I had
looked that up to see if there was any correlation between his posting
and the web site.

Same as anywhere else. Panama uses the US dollar for currency and is the
largest transshipment point for trans-Pacific goods.

Never mind you guys.
As far as I can see, NONE of you have had experience with this
products.
So I would say nothing of what you say here has any support other than
your personal opinion.
I know the laptop version is free. If I were you, I'll try it first and
then I could have authority on the subject. Not before.

I don't want to start a non-sense fight out of this subject. (something
like the war between Windows users and Linux users or Mac users)

I'm just making a statement out of my personal experience with this
products, and try to pass along the tip for someone who might need it.

ShadowSurfer is free (http://www.shadowstor.com/download.html). Beats
your price by a LONG ways. Doesn't require the user cracking open the
case to install hardware, either.

Clone the OS partition to another partition using, say, Ranish
PartitionManager and use a free multiboot manager, like GAG
(gag.sourceforge.net) if you want to allow a choice (or just always
boot the cloned partition). Boot to the partition that is allowed to
get polluted. When you need to replace it, clone over it again. No
hardware required and this is yet another free solution.

Somebody that has heard/tried this solutions.

Let me confess to you that you make me feel really bad after I saw your
post.
I felt I was robbed.
So I went to the link you have posted to try the software myself.
The protection it offers is very much like the one offered by Laptop
Guard, with some substantial differences.
For starters ShadowSurfer doesn't allow you to change anything in the
HDD after you install the software. (free version) If you want to be
able to make changes, buy the ShadowUser for $70 bucks per license.
The price is not bad. But new upgrade versions will need to be paid
also, because support for previos version expire 6 month after the
version is outdated.
And many other operative differences and ways to install and
requirements, that make me happy with my purchase.

But that is not the point.
The point is that there are many solutions of this kind, and not
everybody is aware of it.

I have. Only it was called Pc-Cure when I trialled it.
Partition your hard drive and give control of the partitions to
a piece of hardware, so you can semi-automate an incremental
backup process, basically. Approximately as useful as System
Restore. Less useful than taking proper backups.

Ok. The one I'm using is called Pc Guard. Even though you should make a
second partition if you want to have your everyday changing information
there, it is not required.
It doesn't work as a back up. Actually your computer will behave just
like a regular one.
The difference is that you data will be saved on the second partition,
while your OS is been kept protected by Pc Guard.
And the same concept applies to Laptop Guard (currently in use as 30
day free trial).
So far so good.

Well, before installing Pc Guard/Laptop Guard I had either to clean my
system using antiviruses, spy-bot, etc. or format my system, create 2
partitions, and install a fresh copy of my OS of choice and programs on
partition 1.

At that point I know my system is clean.
From there on, I have to make "sure" that the program I want to install

is "clean".
Lets say buying a new Office program, or any other, and inmediately
tell Pc Guard to save it.
If I download something from the internet that I can get for "free",
and I know that the program is about $100 or $200, then I'll get
suspicious..........can be loaded with malware.................so I
don't install it "permanently".

Lets say, I love to download free music. I download and install Kazza.
I use it, download and copy my songs, etc to my 2nd partition, or burn
a CD.
When I'm done, I just shut down my system.
Next day when I turn it on, Kazza and all its malware army is gone!!
but I get to keep my songs...
One more thing.
It doesn't matter where I go on the Internet. On my next reboot I will
not have any cookies, or Temporary Files or web History clogging up my
computer.
I would say I use common sense when it comes to save something on C:
"permanently"
That has helped me.
And If I accidentally I have a malware infection, well I guess I'll
have to clean it and then save the clean state of my C: drive, and be
more carefull the next time.
But that hasn't happen to me yet. And I'm using this products for over
a year now.
