Hi

I would like to be able to have two documents open at the same time
and the fields which are entered in one to appear in certain places in
the second
document.

What sort of 'fields'?
You could copy and paste a link (or links) to the second document, and while
the documents are both open the links will update automatically.
Or
You could combine the two documents and use REF fields

Hi

just basic "text" using a simple "locked" form for people to fill in -
but in the second document I just want some of the "text" fields
without the form stuff - just plain text which we can paste into a
date base at work -

hope this help you understand what I am needing. Also do you know
how to open two documents at the same time ?

You can have any number of documents open at the same time, and you don't
need a second document merely to transfer data from a form to a database.
You can read the form(s) directly using a macro. See
