or more exactly -

i've just had a look in a table to look something up, and all too annoyingly two fields in every record have been populated by the same word - *publisher*. the fields in question are *source* and *publisher* (not that thats important, but it explains whats happened, and also interestingly that the name of one of those fields is what now appears in these two field in every record.

hopefully its not the end of the world, as we have backups made every day, but any ideas how this happened? would I have accidentally pressed CTRL + something which unbeknown to me ran some automatic and replace type action?

cheers,
Iain

The only way I can see that happening is by someone, somehow running
an Update query updating the field. Possibly they were intending to
update the Source field to the contents of the Publisher field in the
same record - if you just type Publisher on the update-to line of such
a query, Access will helpfully assume you mean the text string
"Publisher"; to update to the contents of the field Publisher you must
use [Publisher], with the brackets.
