field to enter notes- text not showing

How can I prevent text to go into some hidden area of a note field.
The maximum size of the text field is 30, the field is more than large
enough to hold the info, but when the user hits enter after typing the note,
it disappears. Checking the table, the text is still there.
How can I avoid this and how come this happens.

I figured that one out by making my link field visable, it is the last on a
subform, and it went to the next record.
