field size of odbc connected table

hi
i have been trying to change the field size of trans_year
of topeka table ,which is odbc connected and imported to
access.its field size is 2 and i want that to be 4.its
like 03,04,buti want that to be like 2003,2004..i tried to
change the field size by going into tools-options-
tables/queries and made the default size to be 50.its is a
text field.still its not working.is ther anyother way i
can change the filed.
