How can I use Field codes set up in one document to appear in another
document?

Johnnyboy

I think we're going to need more detail on this. You can bookmark the field
and insert a cross-reference to the bookmark (Insert | File, with the
bookmark as "Range").

Hi

very interesting article - I have tried a simple test doc and this is
the link in the "target" doc

{INCLUDETEXT"I\\1 CASE NOTES\\test field links.doc"tester} which
looks right.

The source has one field code (bookmark is called "tester") and the
target doc has this link in it

however it wont update the text that's in the source document.

I have tried I few things but just dont get it.

Just to say I am using the "text form field" in Forms.

I am still trying to get it to work.

Hi still trying to get it to work, can anyone send me a "working"
model of a source and target that works - I am sure that when I see
the codes etc I will know what to do or what I am doing wrong.

Johnny

FWIW, form fields have built-in bookmarks, so you don't need to assign one.

Just to say I am using the "text form field" in Forms.

I am still trying to get it to work.

I have renamed the book marks as I have so many of them in the actual
form I am working on, so when I use a "ref" to them in the same
document I can find the right one, however still no joy doing it with
the source and target document.

Any chance of seeing an actual working example

Johnnyboy

Just so long as you rename the bookmark in the Form Field Options dialog.
