"field code changed" shows up in track changes for one item in the table of
figures and I can't get rid of it.

Just put the cursor on it and click the Accept Change button.

(They just started appearing recently. Added in an update?)

Is ther any other way of dealing with this issue. I hadn't realised
that it might be due to a recent update.

I have a document I and others have been working on for months and it
uses Endnote to manage the citations/bibliography. Until recently this
was not an issue, but working on it today for the first time in a
while, each time I change either the position of a citation or the
citation itself I get the 'field code changed' masseage in track
changes - for all the citations in the document! So, removing each one
by accepting the individual change is somewhat time consuming, as well
as the fact that they are cluttering up the document. I've tried
tinkering with what changes are visible in track changes and then
accepting all shown, but that doesn't affect these. Has anyone any
ideas on eithe how to turn these changes off (i.e. so they are not
shown) or to accept all of them at the same time?

Sorry, I don't use EndNote, but Word seems to be a bit tetchy about
add-ins these days.
