Hi,
I'm trying to open some(not all) saved .msg files in Outlook 2003. If
Outlook is open when I double click, I get the message "The messaging
interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart
Outlook" (restarting does nothing). If Outlook is closed, I get the message
"Unable to start Outlook."

I have already tried the following:
In Outlook 2003:
Tools > Options > Other tab > Advanced Options.
Click Addin Manager button. Remove any reference to Google desktop. (or any
other addin not native to Outlook) Click ok.
Do the same for the Com-Add-ins button.

Please help me with the same..

Thanks in advance

Could you please explain me what is detect and repair.

Is there any reason as to why does this occur? Is the error related to
outlook settings or .msg file?

It's hard to say what causes it - but since only a few are affected, its
more likely a corrupt message. If detect and repair fixes it, then its
outlook. :)
