The basics are pretty simple:
A1:
5 7/12
B1:
2 3/12
C1:
=A1+B1
Returns: 7 5/6
You might prefer a custom format of
# ??/12
This prevents (e.g.) B1 simplifying to 2 1/4 and gives a C1 return of
7 10/12
