1. Delete the Windows XP partition.
2. Create a new partition.
3. Format the new partition FAT32.
4. Install your desired Operating System.

Unless your "friend" elected to upgrade and save the files necessary to
uninstall back to Me, you are going to have to format and reinstall Me
either fresh from the Me CD, or from your OEM restore media if it came with
such resources.
If uninstall XP is not listed as one of the options in Add?Remove, I am
afraid you have no choice to uninstall back to Me.

If XP was installed over top of ME this can cause problems. A clean install over a clean hard drive will work. XP is much more stable than ME. If he installed XP and didn't have the working knowledge this can also cause problems. Hard Drives are very inexpensive. I suggest a new 40 gig(more if cost is not an issue) running at 7200 RPMS. Install XP and all will be good. I have been running XP PRO since it was released and can count on one hand how many times my sytem has frozen. This is just an opinion. The options are all yours. Thank you for the info. I perhaps lost all the info that the system is saying
from the many times I used the restore feature in XP? I don't know I
just know things were better using WindowsMe. Guess my WindowsMe upgrade
disc won't overwrite XP? I have to try and delete it and hope Me comes back
any other helpful information would be appreciated
thank you TAR81 (Kathy

If you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup the
old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, then all
you need do is boot into Safe Mode and Start > Control Panel >
Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions _must_ be met for the
uninstall option to be available.
