Hi,

I have applied February 2004 Critical Patch applied to Windows 98 (not SE)
and it
seems that the system is less stable now. Internet Explorer quite often
shows an error message and quits. I called MS service centre but thay say
Windows 98 is no longer supported. Does anybody noticed similar problem
after February patch has been installed? Is it possible to uninstall that
patch? If so - how?

Thank you,
Janusz Cyran

Hi have you tried looking in your Control Panel Add and Remove scroll down till you find the patch by name or Number and then just uninstall from there. It works in XP am not sure for 98

Well, I could propably remove that patch, I localised it on the list of
software that could be removed. But now I hesitate - it is described as
critical. What is even more confusing - Windows 98 is not on the list of
affected software on Microsoft TechNet page, but it was when I installed it
through update utility. Puzzling and irritating.

Hi Janusz try uninstalling it anyway it wont hurt, then run windows update again to see if it shows as a critical, if it is not letting your computer run properly it most probably doesn't relate to your version.

I uninstalled it. Everything works OK. But I am informed now by Window
Update that there is a critical patch to install, of course just like the
first time. I think they did not tested that patch for Windows 98 and it
really works bad. Well, MS doesn't support Windows 98 anymore, but it should
not allow them to give us bad patches.

Thank you,
