Would it be possible to allow Outlook to open an .eml file. Right now the
..eml first has to be imported with a thrid party program to .msg format.

Our company uses javamail to download emails from a mail server and store
them. JavaMail stores the mail as an .eml file. Our customers who use Outlook
cannot open the saved emails, without having to install a 3rd party program
first. This is very inconvenient.

Just a followup on Roady:

In my Outlook 2003, I can't open an eml, I can only use Outlook Express. I
am on a corporate net without not admin and don't know if my Outlook is
version that allows opening eml. But, found a workaround if you find yourself
unable to open eml with Outlook 2003:

Open the message with Outlook Express (isn't it on all windows versions?)
and move it to a folder. In Outlook, use import from Outlook Express to copy
email to an Outlook folder. Voila - its now .msg (sort of like what the
original poster was doing, but using Microsoft's own software).
