Hi, Rio.
WinXP doesnt seem to offer the Fdisk command like older windows.
No, Windows NEVER included the FDISK command. FDISK is a program that runs
only under MS-DOS, not Windows. Even in Win9x/ME - and in MS-DOS versions
from long ago - if you wanted to partition your hard drive, you had to boot
from something other than that hard drive: usually an MS-DOS boot floppy.
WinXP is based on the NT architecture, not MS-DOS. We can use the built-in
utility Disk Management to create, delete and format partitions and logical
drives in WinXP. EXCEPT that it can't deal with the "system partition" or
"boot volume" (both are often Drive C
. To partition and format the main
(or only) hard drive, we can boot from the WinXP CD-ROM.
To "wipe my HardDrive clean and start it over", just boot from the WinXP
CD-ROM and follow the prompts, including the very early one that offers to
repartition and/or reformat the drive.
