Hi everyone!
Last week I started getting some kind of blue screen of death in my
Windows XP Pro after installing something ( I think it was Direct X ).
So I decided to install Windows on top of itself to see if it would
correct the problem but not too long after the beginning of the
installation I changed my mind and cancelled because I wanted to try
something else.
Now, whenever I reboot the computer I am asked to choose between
starting the Windows XP Pro or the Windows XP setup. I can click the
arrow up and choose to start the computer as usual but I would like to
get rid of the option window. Would booting into a console mode and
typing "FDISK/MBR" fix the problem or should I try something else?
Any suggestion will be welcome!

It's not necessary to do that. You can edit the startup choices either
in My Computer properties, or the system, read-only, boot.ini file in
the root directory.

You might want to search the MS knowledge base on boot.ini and read up
a bit before you do this.

in XP go to the run command and type "msconfig"

remove the offending line from the boot.ini
