FDD help

Assistance required

I have just bought a new FDD - the LED stays on constantly from
bootup to shutdown, and doesn't read any disks - whats the issue.

Flip the ribbon cable over.
 
Check both ends of the cable to make sure the cable is on correctly.
Similar to being on backwards, if you place it on the motherboard one row of
pins horizontally or vertically off, it will give you the floppy light on
too sometimes. Of course if the motherboard is new, it has the plastic
shield around the pins to force it on correctly.

Otherwise change the floppy cable. Test the floppy drive in another system.
 
He meant unplug the cable from the back of the drive, rotate it 180 degrees
and plug back in.
 
I know, don't worry i tried all that stuff, it's faulty - sent it in got a
new 1. Thnx anyway...
