Hi All,

I have some queries related to File Based Write Filter (FBWF) and DUA,
anybody please try to answer these questions:
1) Using FBWF we perform selective commit operation on the protected volume
and don’t restart the machine immediately. If the system restarts after some
time due to hard shutdown. In this case will the committed data be copied on
to the protected volume?
2) If DUA over network is used (Web Server, HTTP/HTTPS) how many clients can
be connected to the Web Server in this way, i.e. if there is any limitation
on number of clients connected for updates in this way?

Thanks & Regards
Roshan.

For #1:

My understanding is that the files are committed immediately when you
do a selective commit operation. This is different than the EWF,
which performed the commit function during shutdown. So the files
should be on the disk when you restart after a sudden shutdown.

For #2:

This depends upon the IIS host operating system licensing. Windows XP
Pro has a 10-connection limit, so if you are running IIS on XP Pro you
would only get 10 concurrent connections. If you are running Server
2003, then I guess your limit is the number of CAL's that you have
purchased and entered into the OS.

Anyone else?

I second #1 below. The files should be there on a hard shutdown.

For server, I am not sure since you are not access the server as a client
only a webserver.
