I've been using my paperless fax console on the computer
via my dial up connection and I've just installed
broadband. Now the fax doesn't work because it doesn't
recognise the ASDL connection and only has the 56k modem
listed. What should I do?

You send/receive faxes with your fax modem (what you called the "56k
modem"), not with a DSL or cable modem. Fax modems will ONLY work on a
connection where a regular -- voice -- telephone will work. So,
reconnect your fax modem to the phone line. (If you're getting DSL over
the phone line, you MAY (depending on your phone company) be able to
install a filter that will permit you to use the same line for both DSL
and telephone service. If so, connect the fax modem to the filter.)

You should probably also know that WindowsXP fax is not very forgiving
of old modems. It may or may not work with your "56k modem" no matter
what you do. Check http://tinyurl.com/vpxu (external) or
http://tinyurl.com/vpya (internal) to see if your modem is "compatible"
witb XP.

I would like to know the answer to that exact same query please

So search the damned group then! This is an FAQ - http://groups.google.com -
and that's more help than you deserve.
