FAXes use the voice telephone lines, so all you need to do
is plug your regular voice telephone line (or just an
extension from a splitter) into your regular FAX Modem.
Then you use the XP built in FAX to send (and perhaps
receive FAXes, not best solution IMHO). But sending is just
fine. You will send to what ever telephone number their fax
machine is using.
The only way to use the Internet (and your DSL/cable)
connection is to subscribe to an Internet FAX Service. They
will take your FAX over the Internet, forward it via their
telephone banked FAX machines. They will act as your FAX
receiving point, providing you with a choice of numbers at
rates they set. When a FAX comes to you they will convert
it to an email (often with an attachment) or perhaps post it
on a private webpage and send you a link.
Try a Google search for "Internet FAX service"
