I am hoping that someone will know how to change the
number of rings the fax rings when sending out a fax. The
problem is I am trying to send a fax to a potential
employer who has their ring settings set to 15-20 rings
before picking up and my fax will not ring that long for
it to pick up, I keep getting a no answer message. Does
anyone know how I can change these settings on my
computer to let it ring longer? I am running windows xp
home edition.

Thanks so much!

.
WindowsXP by default allows up to 5 rings before
disconnecting a fax transmission. There are 3rd party
(commercial) programs you can buy that will ring for as
long as you want. If you are interested, go to below
website, type "fax programs" and take a look at the price
and some have free 30 days trial periods:

As far as the fax console is concerned, there is only a means of setting up
the number of rings for receiving on your end. Your modem may have other
settings. You might want to check the modem documentation or check the
manufacturer's web site for documentation on adjusting the fax modem in that
regard.

Jake, I didn't know that about the fax transmission. Is this information
contained somewhere, do you have a link to it?
