Faxing with Fax machine, but receiving via email

My company just bought another building and would like to
be able to fax out-going faxes on the fax machine, but
receive them via email, with the same fax number. They
dont want to go through any third party because the
information that we fax can be very confidential.
Can anyone help me out and point me in the right direction
here. I am not exactly sure what I am looking for to do
this.

setup for fax on windows xp, and set to auto answering.
Make sure the modem on your pc connect to the same line,
disable auto answering from the fax machine.

Couple question for you... Would I need to have a Fax
modem on my computer to do this? Also would I need some
sort of program to tell the computer to answer the fax and
send it to email?

An incoming fax is not an email. The sender would have to have read the
fax on their computer and attached it to an email - after having scanned it
to a file or read it in an application like WinFax and forwarded it by mail.

If someone sends you a fax and your computer picks it up via fax-modem, it
will go to whatever fax management program you have running. That
application may (or may not) notify your email program that you've received
a fax.

Bear in mind that a fax is not text, it's a picture of text.

Please tell me about some of the Fax Management programs.
What my company wants is to have some device and/or
program to take incoming faxes and turn them into a file
(such as a Tiff or a PDF) and either put it into a folder
to have it sent to an administrator's email so she can
distribute them appropriately through her email? But they
also want to send hard copy faxes out through a regular
fax machine. can you tell me any device and/or program
that we would need to get to make this possible?

I had the same need and solved it this way.....

I obtained a program called MightyFax. Small cost..

My PC remains on 24/7 and I have it set to the receive mode. After you
have the fax, it stores in an archive, converts to files, imports,
exports, prints etc. You can edit and re-send right from the desktop.
Only requirement to do all this is of course to have a fax modem in your
PC.
