Since converting to broadband my Fax element refuses to work. The broadband modem is a Softk56 Data Fax Voice Speaker phone CARP . The connection is fitted with a filter for the voice transmission. However when I try to Fax, the Fax program locks up with a toolbar display "Refreshing". It sometimes produces a pop-up telling me that the machine is out of virtual memory and is increasing it . Nothing else happens . I am far from refreshed - any ideas?

Try unistalling and reinstalling the fax software

I copied this answer from another post down below, maybe it will help. also
check and see if your broad band modem is XP compatible? [date1-5-04]

Quote: Many users don't realize that faxing is a function that can only use
analog
phone lines and analog fax modems. Accordingly, no fax software will
function with cable modems or DSL lines. With some DSL connections you can
obtain a DSL line filter suitable for connecting a standard analog voice
line to the DSL line and can then connect an analog fax modem to that line.

If you have no analog modem or phone line, you will need to use a fee based
Internet Fax Service. Several are listed here: http://www.savetz.com/fax/

Thanks Victor D. I have uinstalled and re-installed but the Fax program
still hangs up with the 'Refreshing' message and declares that no Fax
printer is available although the printer claims to be available.
