In an attempt to assist a freind I need to receive a FAX but it appears that the FAX console doesn't recognise my MODEM which is DSL type. Is there a way round my problem other than replacing my MODEM?
Rather than thinking of it as a DSL MODEM, think of it as a giant network
card, connecting you to a giant network (the internet).
A 'real' fax needs an analog modem connected to an analog phone line. You
can happily have an analog modem (even an old 14.4kpbs one will do since a
fax sends at no faster than that)... along with the DSL modem... but the
analog modem must be connected to the phone line.
