Can the Windows XP fax accessory send fax via DSL/Broadband or does it
always have to be connected thru a dial-up modem?
Brian

Faxing is a function that can only use analog phone lines and analog fax
modems. Accordingly, no fax software will function with cable modems or DSL
lines. With some DSL connections you can obtain a DSL line filter suitable
for connecting a standard analog voice line to the DSL line and can then
connect an analog fax modem to that line.

Thanks - I kind of suspected that but I was hoping. Appreciate the response

Not quite

You are able to send faxes via broadband with XP and NO modem. I do it a lot, I have sent 2 today. There is a program called FAXMAIL you can get it from here http://www.compulink.co.uk/~net-services/faxmail/
There is a limit to how may you can send, the details are below.
You basically send the fax via your email client, eg. Outlook. You can send word docs but you must attach them as a PDF. You can also send pictures as .jpg

The limits are:

15 fax(es) or 50 page(s) per hour
200 page(s) per day
25 fax(es) per week

Anyone who needs further info please email me. Oh by the way, the program is free, I did NOT write it, I just like it and thought you would like to know

All the best

Mick
