Fax Template

My company is revising the fax coversheet. We'd like to auto-fill form fields
for the date, but is there any way that we can save the document and later
receive it with the original date, not the date reopened?

Use a CreateDate field instead of Date. See

You are using a DATE or TIME field rather than a CREATEDATE field. This
field should be put in the original template if possible (instead of
inserting using the keyboard shortcut or header/footer toolbar button). That
way, when a new document is created based on the template, the date will
update.
