After adding "Fax Services" from Panel Control - Add or
Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows Componets, my
computer runs very slowly, almost stops there. However,
when I remove the "Fax Services", my computer goes back
to normal speed.

Please let me know how my computer can runs at normal
speed after adding the "Fax Services".

Many thanks,

John

Have you applied XPSP1? Also can you go to Task Manager-Processes Tab, and
see if fxssvc.exe is taking lot of CPU time?

I have the same problem with fax service. I checked task manager and explorer.exe is using up to and exceeding 90% cpu usage and up to and exceeding 500KB of memory usage
I also find it takes many tries to get a fax to even complete if ever does at all. It will freeze up, then after a 1/2 hour or so it will say that the fax was sent. When in fact the send fax wizard never came up
The more I try to fax the worse it gets.
