Fax problem after upgrading to Office 2003 SP3

After upgrading my Office 2003 to Service Pack 3, the XP built-in Fax
Terminal can no longer open faxes.
An error message is received that .TIF files (through which the Fax Terminal
opens faxes) no longer have an association.
A knowledge base article states that .TIF files have been disabled for
security reasons, and does not recommend manually reassociating TIF files
with the Document Imaging application through which the Fax Terminal opens
faxes.
How should I proceed? What are the security implications ? I connect to the
Internet through ADSL and have an up-to-date Norton Security 2007 (antivirus
+firewall) on my system.

I would suggest proceeding by posting your question in an appropriate Office
group, rather than in this .NET programming group.

To find the group you need:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...spx?guid=1080912A-26C5-7040-AFDD-2224A4FEB3EA

Then open your language in the TreeView on the left, scroll down to
"Office and Desktop Applications", open and scroll down to "Office" and
select a group there.
