Fax Monitor not responding

Charlie C.

I can't get the Fax Monitor (the function that lets you
track progress of the fax, whether it was successful,
etc.) to function. When I send a fax, it just sits there.
The fax machine on the other end answers, and it appears
to go through successfully (the message moves from
the "outbox" to the "sent items" folder in Fax Console),
but the Fax Monitor doesn't indicate anything.

Note (1): I installed Norton Personal Firewall 2004
earlier, and the first time I opened the fax program, I
got a firewall dialogue box asking if I wanted to
automatically configure the firewall for that program, and
I checked yes.

Note (2): I tried to send the fax again after disabling
the new firewall, and the Fax Monitor function was still
unresponsive. I never had this problem with the earlier
Norton firewall I had been using.

HOW do get Fax Monitor to show what the fax is doing? More
important, how can I verify that a fax went through
successfully? (Other than calling the person at the other
end, LOL!)

Thanks,
Charlie Callahan

If you've already installed SP1, then most likely this is yet another issue
with Norton's firewall. Check with them. They'll probably have a solution in
a year or two.
