fax machine won't fax, in or out.

I bought a Hewlett Packard fax, printer, scanner, the attachment for my
computer, the ring distinction box for the phone line and had another line
opened for the fax. Set the box on 2. I have done everything but kick the
thing out the window. Even my son who set up his own printer, scanner can't
get it to fax. The machine is new. I need help before it makes me crazier
than I already am.

If it is this difficult to get to work, you should take it back. It's
already caused to much grief!

Ont thing does bother me. Does the HP function properly as a standalone
fax/copier/scanner? How about the printer functions- are they OK?
Were the install instructions followed to the letter?
Have you contacted HP concerning the problem?
Have you looked on the HP website for updated drivers and software?
Some of the HP models require optional or updated software to operate
properly in the fax and scan modes.

By itself, windows XP does not support selective ring functions.
