Fax from word - wont dial out

Could someone please provide me with some assistance:

Last night I installed new Office XP software to run on my
Windows 2000 professional operating system.

Now when I fax a document from word, the wizard stuff
works fine but the fax console just want dial out. And
then I have to shut down and restart my laptop to be able
to dial up to the internet.

Any assistance would be really appreciated.
