Using Windows Fax for XP SP2 and configuring the Addressbook to use Outlook
contacts-

I find the search order for names is "FirstName LastName" instead of the
logical "LastName, FirstName".

This is despite the fact that in Outlook, Contacts are filed as "LastName,
FirstName".

Is there somewhere I can select the search order for the addressbook
dialogue box in the fax program? Thanks,

Yes is great - Outlook Std Ed 2003. How is it done?

BTW I did look at the Outlook contacts view and changed the 'File As' option
to "LastName, FirstName". However it does not carry this filing order over to
the Windows Fax.

Thanks-

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change… > Set your sort order there
to "File As"
Restart Outlook.

Moreover, the settings you changed only apply to new Contacts, not existing
ones.

Thanks! Not only did it fix the sort order for new contacts, but it
'repaired' all existing too. Now the Windows Fax address book looks/ sorts
them all in the same (Last, First) order.

Good news indeed!!
