"Favourites" icons changing to default Windows icon

Some of my saved "Favourites" icons, eg. eBay, change from the company's
icon to the default Windows symbol a few days after I save them.
This seems to be a hit-and-miss thing.
I have saved eBay.com, eBay.co.uk, and eBay.ie and two of them are showing
the default Windows icon symbol and the other still shows the eBay symbol.
Originally all three had the eBay icon but two have vanished. How can I
address this?

These are called "favicons". See the information from MVP Kelly Theriot
