I can not get favorities to show up in IE6. If I click to add I get a list
of files I could add to but the I can not get the list to show up in the box
on the left side of the screen. If I pick favorities (or any file uner it)as
the file to add to it gets added to the window on the left and does show up.
Can anyone help?

Perhaps the Registry is wrong?

You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these
two keys: (ignore the second if the value is not there)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

For Windows 2000/XP:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders]
Set the Favorites path to : %USERPROFILE%\Favorites

The above should be a REG_EXPAND_SZ value, not REG_SZ

Alan - I saw this solution posted by you to anohter after I posted. I tried
it but can not figure out how to change the REG_EXPAND_SZ value from REG_SZ.
Could you explain how to change it? I did set the Favorites path to :
%USERPROFILE%\Favorites, but I don't understand the choices XP gives me under
modify. Thanks. JCW

Delete the value and add it correctly.

When I delete the value and try to add a new one the REG_SZ is automatically
added. How do I change it? Thanks.

You are adding it incorrectly.
Add it as a new Explandable String Value to get a REG_EXPAND_SZ value

hAlan - I have changed everything you said to change. I guess I should have
said I am using IE 7 Beta. But even if I uninstall it and go back to IE6 the
favorities do not show up. I tried importing them from an old computer and I
still can not get them to show up. Thanks

If you had said you were using IE7 Beta, I probably would not have
responded, unless it was to point you to the IE7 newsgroup.
You may try there:
