If the "Favorites" folder is cut from a user profile and later pasted back IE
doesn't recognize any of the bookmarks. Is there a way to restore them or
does a new user profile need to be set in W2K Pro SP4?

Thank you.

You can't paste the folder, but you can copy the contents of the old
favorites folder to the new favorites folder.

Thank you for the response Frank.
However, when I view the contents of the Favorites folder in Windows
Explorer, the links are already there under the correct profile but the links
do not show in IE.

While logged on as that user, check the registry to see where Windows
thinks the Favorites folder is. The relevant entries are
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders.

The Favorites value for the first should be something like "D:\Documents
and Settings\{UserID}\Favorites" and for the second should be
%USERPROFILE%\Favorites.
