Hello, I must format my hard drive but would like to back
up my favorites and task bar. How do I do this. Not sure
if I have worded this correctly but I just want internet
explorer to look the same after my format. Thanks so much,
Julie

Which OS do you have? As an example, for XP, your favorites are stored in
your documents and settings folder. Say your login name is 'julie' and the
OS is installed on c:\, then your favorites directory is c:\Documents and
Settings\julie\favorites
You can just copy this directory to another hard drive or back it up some
other way and then copy it back after you install the OS
The start menu is also located below your user directory. You'll probably
not want to copy all of it to your new OS but you can back it up and then
copy back specific portions, although you'll have to reinstall each
application that you want on the new OS and that will create new links in
the programs menu.

To back up your favorites, go to File\ Import and Export. This will
let you put your favorites and\or cookies onto a floppy disk, or other
storage medium. You can later import them from the disk in the same
way.
