I have been trying to delete pre-installed folders listed under Favorites,
however, whenever I return to internet explorer and the Favorites the once
deleted folders reappear. What do I do to delete the folders permanently?

What are some of the names? When XP is installed, certain folders are
created in the favorites like links to Microsoft or Windows websites. If
these are porn or other types that you would not typically associate with a
legitimate website, they have probably been installed by a parasite or
spyware application.

Download and run the following, free spyware removal applications:

Download all the spyware cleaners and run them. Make sure that the reference
files for the programs are up to date.

Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE - www.lavasoftusa.com
SpyBot S&D - http://www.safer-networking.org/

You can also go to the following website for a free, online scan to
determine if any spyware is present.

No virus present. The folders are basic: Travel, Communications,
Health, etc

We aren't talking about viruses here. Spyware can be just as damaging as a
virus, but they bypass most of the anti virus software, easily. The
preconfigured favorites from Microsoft after an installation do not reappear
after they are deleted.

If you have run the recommended spyware removal programs and the behavior is
still present, I would recommend going to one of the free forums that deal
with spyware applications for expert help with this.

Here is one of the best. Click the Register link and then post a message,
