What is the difference between using Links and
Favorites? I've been using Windows for a long time and I
have never been able to figure out why the two options
exist. Do they really have different functions or are
they merely duplications of the same function?

Thanks in advance for your information.

Links are the "quick launch" function in IE - you can put all your
commonly used bookmarks onto the "Links" bar in IE.

For my money a Favorite is a shortcut to a link. For instance
http://www.google.com is a link. A Favorite representing that link could be
Google, or Search or what ever is convenient for the user to remember.
Consider that some links can be hundreds of characters long and would be
unwieldy to navigate in a list of hundreds of links. A one or two word
Favorite is just more user friendly.

I use the Links toolbar for the purpose "rifleman" mentions - quick access
to the few URLs that I use on a regular basis.
