Favorites lists reverts back to IE5.5

Sometimes when I start my computer it sets it self back to
5.5! I found this out by going to my favorites list, and
viewing all the favorites that I had saved when I was
using 5.5. Other times that I start the puter, it comes up
with the new favorites list, Why does this happen?
Should I have uninstalled 5.5 before using 6.0, or is
there something that prevents that?HELP!!!!!

First: make sure it is really reverting back to IE5.5, by checking (from the
IE menu bar): Help; About Internet Explorer.

You may have accidentally checked the personalized menu setting in
tools\ internet options \ advanced. (Un-check\ apply \ okay.) As Spam
Buster wrote, you can check your IE version number via Help\About.
