It is as Alan has said... clearing the Temp file cache can remove the
Favicon.ico. Also Favicons are not always displayed from a site or page even
though they use them. Seems to be an erratic happenstance. There are two
tools one is Favorg and the other is Faviconizer which can manage these
Favicons. I have and occasionally use Favorg, but now do the following
method as it is more fool proof and doesn't have the problems as programs
have.
When you see a Favicon, search for it in the Content.IE5 folder; *COPY* and
paste it (**DO NOT CUT IT from the respective folder**) to an folder you
should create for such purposes, rename it whateveryouwant.ico, and store it
there for use as you need it.
An old site I know of still has a free version of Favorg 1.4 (Still the most
current IIRC)
