Favorites icon not showing..

I put an icon on my site - the type that displays next to the site in the
Favorites folder if somebody bookmarks it. Anyway, I did it just like I was
told on the MS website and it worked perfectly. Then it just stopped
showing?? So I tried it again on another PC and it didn't display at all.
Then I realized that my other Favorites icons from other sites I've
bookmarked aren't showing either and I realized that this must have
something to do with IE and not my site or icon.
Anyway, what I'm getting at is this: I have 5 networked PCs at home and
none of the show Favorites icons. They're all running XP Pro with all of
the latest service packs and updates. None of them display Favorites
icons.... Why? Is this common? I mean, when I made the icon for my own
site, I just assumed that people would see it. Now I'm thinking that the
Favorites icon thingy doesn't really work that well.
Can anybody tell me if this is just a quirky thing and not to worry?

Thanks,
Mark

If you have cleared the temporary internet files, the favorites have
reverted to the default IE web page icon.
Remove the site from your favorites and then re add it.

This is normal behavior for IE.

No, I rarely clear those files, so it must just be some weird bug. I
removed and then re-added some sites that I know have icons and after
re-adding, the icons still don't show. :-(

Oh well....

Thanks,
Mark

Even if you rarely clear them, older files are automatically deleted from
the cache when it has reached it's size limit.

Have you installed TweakUI on the XP machines?
It has a "Repair icons" feature.

Wow... I haven't used or even thought about that program in many years -
it's still being updated and is compatible with XP? I'll give it a try...
