I asked a question like that once at another site and got
no answer either until I came out of my fog and realized
that resorting the links by name requires that you move
over into the "branch" that the links reside.
Go to Favorites in the menu bar, not the one that shows up
on the left of the browser window when you click the
Favorites button. Any time you right click in the menu
remember that you're dealing ONLY with the column you're
in, not the folder that you may be on. If you want to
resort the contents of the folder you have to move over to
the branch that opens up when you're mouse is on that
folder. The right click anywhere inside the folder
contents and choose Sort by Name.
If, on the other hand, you're talking about keeping your
Favorites in some other particular order then you're going
to have to rely on the Organize button at the top of the
panel that pops up to the left of the window when you
click on the Favorites button. You may have to rename
your links or form subfolders to the root directory and
put your selected links in those.
