It didn't work. I couldn't find a prompt for Sort by
Name. Maybe I am clicking in the wrong place.

Right click the Favorites button on the menu bar, it should
have a gold star.

Hi Jim,

My "favorites" button does not offer that option but I can r-click any of
the entries in the "favorites" list and choose "sort by name" and that will
do the trick for me.

JAX

I did not say it correctly. Should have said, left click
Favorites on menu bar, the right click in the list.

Are we all talking about OE6? There is no "star" on the list on my OE, just
"sort by name" next the bottom in the r-click menu.

Just curious, JAX

Right Click in the Favorites Folder on a non-folder
such as a link. That will bring up the menu you need.

Does NOT work if you are trying to do this from Favorites in the left-hand
pane. (Ctrl + I)

From IE HELP:
[[To organize your favorite pages into folders
As your list of favorite pages grows, you can keep it organized by creating
folders. You might want to organize your pages by topic. For example, you
could create a folder named Art for storing information about art exhibits
and reviews.

On the Favorites menu, click Organize Favorites.
Click Create Folder, type a name for the folder, and then press ENTER.
Drag the shortcuts (or folders) in the list to the appropriate folders.
If the number of shortcuts or folders makes dragging impractical, you can
use the Move to Folder button instead.]]

I meant to say IE6, not OE6

Figured that's what you meant. I get the "Sort by Name" option when I click
Favorites up in the top menu bar (file, edit, view, Favorites). Let the
list drop down, then right click within it. I don't keep Favorites on my
Start Menu. Guessing it would show up there too.

Thanks Sharon,

What you have said, is the same as with me. I just wonder where that "star"
is. Maybe,... I should have paid that extra 50¢. <grin>

Cheers, JAX

It's probably in that same version of XP that gives <error> massages:
"every time I start my computer it gives me a massage." I missed out on it
too but have a gold star for Favorites on the IE toolbar.
