Any recommendations for PC components vendors, where particularly good deals
are available? For example, including components that are "previous
generation" but still quite usable?

My brother has had good luck with www.compgeeks.com and I just bought a
motherboard from them for $45. (I needed a motherboard that would support
both my AGP 2x All in Wonder 128, as well as my PC 133 SDRAM.)

So, what other good vendors are out there?

Newegg.com. They have good prices and a no-nonsense return policy that
reflects a professional business geared up for long term sucess.

I have used:

Multiwave
Provantage
theNerds.net
Googlegear
KDComputers

They all have shipped me what I asked for in a timely manner.

I tried to post this before and it didn't stick so ...

After building my first PC I have to thank the folks at mwave.com. When I
had trouble with the motherboard I had no trouble getting tech support on
Saturday, or getting a RMA. They matched shipping so with overnight UPS I
had the replacement in 3 days (one of which was Sunday).

I have a few more gray hairs, but would have been worse without good vendor
support.

I used AccuPC fast, bargains and I've had good luck with Ebay.
