My "Favorites" icon no longe works in Internet Explorer. It DOES work in MSN
Explorer.

When I click on the icon, the page comes up just like it has always done,
but all I get is the usual box with an "x" on the right handed side and
that's it, period.

Plus I had numerous favorites saved, and they are gone also.

Would anyone know how to help me fix this. I have been trying for two hours
and am not getting anywhere.

Sincerely,
Corinne Larimore

Hi Happy Purple :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Favicons not showing or lost

***************************************

They sometimes won't show even if you have added them as Favorites. Try
this. Grab the default icon at the left end of the Address Bar and drag it
all the way to the right end of the Address Bar and then release.

also..

Icons are temporarily stored in a file called iconcache.dll, You might try
deleting this file and restart your computer, Windows should automatically
rebuild the iconcache.dll on reboot. Be sure to make a backup copy just in
case.

For XP Pro they are Hidden file named Iconcache.db in this path:
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data

Preserve the favicons using AM-Deadlink
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ie/favicon.htm

and.....

FavOrg: To set Favicons (subscription required)
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Bookmark-Managers/favorg.shtml

This allows you to save them permanently in a different folder and
re-associate your favorites with the stored icons. It also verifies whether
your links in Favorites are stll good.

For more information on favicons, how they work, how web site authors
use them, etc.

Hope this helps.
