You're probably going to get a lot of opinions here mostly based on personal
results. Mine have been the best with Memorex. But, I have also used
Philips and they were good also. CDrs and DVDrs are formatted
differently, thus results vary. Ask a close friend, maybe they'll give you a
blank to try and see the results.

This is a really complex topics, because the brand names you see on the media
usually have very little to do with the quality. Most CDs and DVDs are
manufactured by companies other than the brand you see on the label.
It's also a really important topics, because good quality media will create
perfect burns 99% of the time, while bad media might fail 90% of the time.
You can find Web sites that discuss this at length, but what I find most
useful is to look up reviews at Amazon. You'll find that the cheapest media
usually gets terrible reviews, but many of the more expensive media also gets
bad reviews. Good luck with it.
